State Cultural Heritage Policy
In 2011, Heritage Minister John Castrilli launched the State Cultural Heritage Policy - the first heritage policy formally adopted by the Western Australian Government.
The policy highlights the importance that the State Government places on the recognition and conservation of our heritage for present and future generations.
It clarifies for all Western Australians the objectives and focus of the Government in the area of cultural heritage.
It highlights the need for all of us to work together - State Government, Local Government, property owners and members of the community - to ensure that the valuable asset of our heritage is recognised, protected and promoted.
The Heritage Council and the National Trust of Australia (WA) will work together on Action Plans to underpin this policy and will take the lead in the future development of a State Heritage Strategy.
