First jet airplanes operational in Germany (Me262)

August Allied forces drop atomic bombs on two Japanese cities: Nagasaki & Hiroshima (it is the first &, so far, only tine nuclear weapons have been employed in world conflict)

Second World War ends with unconditional surrender of Axis Powers Italy, Germany & Japan

Army move out of the Prison - extensive repairs necessary.

Trans Australian Airlines (TAA) began operations
